Versterker met 30W buizen fasedraaier en eindtrap, maar met een transistor voorversterker.
Een compact versterkertje met een heerlijk crunchy geluid met voldoende power voor live gebruik in een kroeg. Niet echt een metalsound, denk meer aan stevige bluesrock of classic rock.
De versterker heeft twee kanalen: het “boost” kanaal heeft een gain-, volume- en toneknop.
Het “normal” kanaal heeft enkel een volume. Verder zijn er knoppen voor treble, mid en bass en een master volume met reverb.
Bij lage standen van de volume knop van het “normal” kanaal klinkt deze wat schel, maar dat lost zich op bij hogere standen van het kanaalvolume. Hierbij blijft het geluid overigens niet zo clean meer, maar krijgt het een heerlijk plexi-achtige rand.*
Verder is de versterker voorzien van een effectsloop, een line out en een extra speaker aansluiting met een 4ohm/8 ohm schakelaar.
Buizen aan boord zijn 1x 12AX7 en 2x EL34. De luidspreker is een “Marshall G12 Vintage by Celestion” (de originele Celestion Vintage 30).
De versterker wordt geleverd inc. een voetswitch voor de kanaalselectie.
* Een populaire en eenvoudige modificatie aan deze versterkers is het verwijderen van C13 dan wordt ie minder schel bij lage standen van het kanaalvolume. Maar hee, dit is een Marshall.. Persoonlijk zou ik de volumeknop op mijn gitaar wat terugdraaien als ik een cleaner geluid uit het “normal” kanaal zou willen.

A 30W amplifier with a valve phase inverter and powersection, but a solid state preamp.
It’s a nice compact combo with a lovely crunchy sound, and plenty of power for live pub gigs.
It doesn’t really do a high gain metal sound, but it really excels at nailing raunchy bluesrock or classic rock tones.
it’s a two channel amp: The “boost” channel has it’s own gain-, volume- and toneknob. The “normal” channel only has it’s own volume.
Furthermore there is the usual treble-mid-bass tonestack, and controls for reverb and a master volume.
At lower settings the volume knob of the “normal” channel gives the amp a really bright, almost screeching sound. Which resolves itself in a much warmer tone at higher channel volume settings. This will not result in the cleanest of tones, but does give a very nice plexi-like edge to the sound.*
Further specs. are an effectsloop, a line out, and an extra speaker out with a 4ohm/8ohm switch.

* A popular and easy modification on these amps is the removal of C13, which makes the “normal” channel a lot warmer at lower channel volume settings. But hey, this is a Marshall.. personally I would lower the volume knob on my guitar if in need of a cleaner tone.
